The Words We Lost by Nicole Deese
Where can friendship take you?
This is the story about a woman finding her way after a tremulous childhood when her anchor is no more. Jumping between timelines I was continually eager to know what would happen next.
The story is grief heavy which is always a hit or miss for me but Deese wove some magic and it is so artfully done. It’s hard and beautiful and so very realistic. Does that mean I agree with all the decisions made? No, but I rarely do. Third party hindsight and all that.
The power of friendship shines through in The Words We Lost. Think found family, but probably one of the best books you’ll ever read with that trope.
And of course there is a romance storyline woven in. That seems to be my genre of preference these days and I’m not mad about it.
Thank you to everyone who raved about this book last year. This will be a favorite of the year.
